SGCJS unveils new state-of-the-art musical room

Pupils from St George’s College Junior School in Weybridge are singing from the rooftops about their newly refurbished music studies room. The room has had a full make over combined with an impressive range of new modern equipment with the aim of encouraging boys and girls to try new musical options and stir new interest in the arts.

The room has been transformed from a 1970s ex-science block to a fully operational music studio. The new facilities include 11 personal computers and keyboards, all of which are fitted with state-of-the-art music software, including Dance Ejay for Schools and Sibelius Groovy Shapes.

The room comprises a new interactive whiteboard for a more visual and exciting learning experience. It also houses some of the more traditional facilities and hand-held instruments that have always made music a fun and dynamic subject.

Alastair Hodgson, Head of Music at St George’s College Junior School, commented on the refurbishment saying: “We are all very excited about the new capabilities in the music department. It has given the pupils a range of new opportunities to find and perfect their musical abilities.”

Every Monday pupils will congregate in the new room to rehearse in either the orchestra or jazz band while others will exercise their vocal chords in the choir.
