MP shows his support for SGC Junior School's Nursery renovation

Phillip Hammond, local Elmbridge constituency MP, was guest of honour at the opening ceremony of St George’s College Junior School new nursery block which has undergone significant reconstruction and expansion; to replace the dilapidated, prefabricated room of the existing block.

Leatherhead based architects, Chorton Hill Associates, have redesigned part of the nursery block to create a spacious, light and airy environment for the pupils to learn and play. Staff from the Junior School and Nursery were closely involved in the redesigning and expansion of the nursery block; all offering recommendations for child-friendly furnishings and finishes.
The new nursery classroom is in-keeping with the environmentally friendly initiative that is ingrained within the St George’s College Junior School ethos, some eco-friendly features include; energy-efficient under floor heating. Other features of the new classroom comprise networked computers with an interactive whiteboard and state-of-the-art integrated sound systems.
Anthony Hudson, Headteacher of St George’s College Junior School, commented: “The new nursery block classroom will improve the learning experience for our pupils. All the staff are delighted with the new area; it will enable more interactive learning with state-of-the-art resources available to the teachers and children.”
