OGA Announcement

Fr Francis retires as Secretary of the OGA
Fr Francis was appointed general secretary of the OGA in 1946. For the best part of 62 years, with a few short interruptions, he has been at the centre of the administration of the Association. As Headmaster of the Woburn Hill School for 21 years from 1964 to 1985 he has known many generations of Old Georgians since their earliest days at the College. Fr Francis recently celebrated his 90th birthday and feels that the time has come for him to resign as the Association's secretary. He has moved into a Nursing Home in Sunbury where he is well cared for. He can still receive letters addressed to him at St George's College.

Fr Robert Hamilton will be the new Secretary of the OGA
Fr Robert Hamilton has agreed to join the OGA Committee and carry on the work of Fr Francis. Fr Robert was a pupil at St George's from 1951-1959. He joined the Josephites after leaving school and after studies at Cambridge and Louvain in Belgium, was ordained a priest in 1969.

Fr Robert writes:
"It is a privilege to have been asked to succeed Fr Francis as Secretary of the Association. This means that the Josephite community in England will continue its close association with former pupils of the College. I know that this close relationship is very precious to us all. Fr Francis is a hard act to follow but I will do my best to keep in contact with members of the O.G.A. and work with other members of the committee to ensure that the Association continues to flourish in the future."
