SGC National Sporting Achievements
James Reynolds (Director of Sport) updated us on the national achievements St George's College and its students:
- Chelsea Mather (Year 2) reached the National Gymnastic Finals.
- The College hosted the Girls’ National U14, 16 and 18 Hockey Finals over 2 days with 15 of the best schools attending as well as our own prestigious Hockey Sixes an event that we can all be proud which invited the top 27 teams in England to compete for the Governors’ Cup.
- An U18 team won the Surrey Mixed Hockey Competition. The girls’ and boys’ U13 hockey mini sides qualified for the South Regional Competition to be held in April.
- The girls’ U12 netball team became Elmbridge District champions.
- Gordon Lester (yr 5) is ranked 2nd in the UK in the indoor pole vault clearing 4m20cms.
- The boys’ rugby at U14 and 15 won silverware at their Surry Sevens Competitions.
- Sam East (Year 1), Stefan Rhodes (Year 1) and Lucas Poelman (Year 3) are leading Surrey tennis players in their age groupings,
- Alex Wilton (Year 5) and Josie Inverdale (Year 5) competed for the Surrey Tennis Team competing in the National County Championships.
