Old Georgians Hockey Club
The Old Georgians’ Hockey Club (OGHC) has been going strongly for 16 years, and is always seeking out new players. The College has such a rich history of producing great hockey players. Consequently, the OGHC was created to allow students to continue playing with their friends after leaving St George’s.
The Old Georgians’ Hockey Club (OGHC) was founded in 1995 and is one of the great success stories of England Hockey. Sitting in a pub one day, three Old Georgians decided to set up a Hockey Club. They set themselves the ambitious target of becoming a National League Club within ten years, with an ultimate goal of achieving promotion to the Premier League. It was done in 8!
The club has 3 men’s teams, 2 ladies’ teams, and a Vet’s side. Games are on Saturdays with training on a Tuesday evening (and Thursday if you are good enough to make the 1s). Training is organised by four professional coaches. We have a fun Sunday mixed team also.
Who can join?
OGHC welcomes anyone interested in playing hockey: beginners, experts or those wanting to brush the dust off their old hockey sticks. Your hockey playing friends are welcome also.
The Club has two all-weather floodlit hockey pitches, including a new water based astro, and a newly refurbished Clubhouse. These are all located in the grounds of St. George's College.
Membership is free to students and £87.50 per year for new members (£175 thereafter).
As well as playing hockey, the club also has a very strong social side, with the season’s opening party already in the bag; the Christmas party arrangements are already under way.
So if you feel tempted to come down and see what it’s all about (just turn up at 7pm on a Tuesday), or if you are after any further information, please contact:
