Baroque Festival from Rome

St George’s College Chamber Choir,

Choral Society & Sinfonia
Saturday 30th March 2019 - 7pm
St George’s College Chapel - Free entry

The Choral Society is an adult choir comprised of parents, staff and Old Georgians (including winners of the 2012 Choir of the Year competition!). They join forces with the Chamber Choir and a professional ensemble to give a big annual concert of large-scale Classical works for choir and orchestra.

This year the repertoire focuses on exciting pieces by Baroque composers, written for multiple choirs and soloists. The soloists this year include the baritone Chris Jacklin, one of our excellent Visiting Music Teachers, who is a highly sought after opera singer. He will be joined by other outstanding young opera professionals, including Sophie Horrocks and Oliver El-Haliby, both ex-Cambridge University choral scholars.

The orchestra of baroque instruments will be led by Sultan Kara (OG Music Scholar) currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music and will include some of the instrumental stars of tomorrow.
