Remembrance Day Service
Today, 9 November 2018, students and staff at St George’s College, Weybridge took part in a special service to commemorate Armistice Day, more commonly known as Remembrance Day.
Although Remembrance Day takes place on the 11 November at 11am, the College took this opportunity to gather together, like millions of others across the country will do this weekend, to stand in silence at 11am to remember and honour all those who have died in conflict.
A special service took place in the College Chapel with Chaplain Father Martin CJ, before the College Captains and two lower years' students took poppy wreaths and placed them on the First World War and Second World War memorials by the Chapel.
The War Memorials at St George’s College are in memory of all alumni, known as ‘Old Georgians’, who have died in the two World Wars.
