WOGLE' WALKERS COMPLETE THE WEST HIGHLAND WAY
Fort William, Scotland. May 2010
Fundraising on behalf a charity set up by former students of St George’s College, Weybridge, a group of 7 local people have just returned from a gruelling 95 mile hike in the Highlands of Scotland, following a path from Glasgow to Fort William, in a fast-paced 6 days. ‘We were so lucky with the weather and the midges’ said Organiser, Bill Drummond who attended St George’s until 1989. ‘The West Highland Way is notorious for both heavy rain and extremely persistent mosquito-like insects called ‘midges’ - we experienced only about 20 minutes of rain and absolutely no midges’ continued Drummond. ‘It wasn’t all plain sailing as individually we suffered from a variety of blisters, knee/ankle injuries and general aches and pains throughout the week’. WOGLE or ‘Weybridge Old Georgians Lourdes Experience’ hope to raise over £5000 to continue funding the annual trips accompanying sick and disabled people during a weeklong pilgrimage/holiday to Lourdes in Southern France.
